This year, the RoboCup Junior National Championships were held Saturday 24th September. For the very first time they were held in Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania. Rather than have three RoboCup competitions running in the same place at around the same time, the state competition was dropped this year.
On the day, there were so many people from all around Australia. I also saw Rob Torok from TheNXTStep.com. The University of Tasmania was a great venue
This year I attempted solo Rescue for the first time, rather than being part of a Dance team like previous years. I was going pretty well for first two rounds, until the lighting changed which messed up my sensor calibrations. I ended up 18th – not as good as I have achieved before, but not too bad either.
After the competition there was the function, intended for the teams and their mentors. For me, the highlight of the event was a robot quiz and everyone building small LEGO duck models.
Damien Kee has posted about the day on his blog and the NXT Step. Rob Torok has quite a few photos on his blog, and there is some information about is on the official RoboCupJunior website.
Wow, congratulations! 😀 18th is still pretty good when it's out of 48!
